The first thing that struck me about Cusco was how quiet it was for a big city, why is this? the use of car horns is banned ahhhhhhhhh nice. Being a little lower than Puno we got some respite from the affects of the altitude and spent the day looking round the sights of the city. Much of the Inca architecture has been built on by the Spanish when the city was sacked in 1535. This was part of the Spanish strategy to supress the Inca beliefs and relegion. Being the Inca capital the Spanish found it necessary to build more than the required number of catherderals and churches and these can be seen in all corners of the city.

The Spanish did however keep the Inca foundations which unlike anything the Spanish built are earth quake proof.

As always their were plenty of kids on hand to try and sell you something, Peru is a nation of sales people. Its interesting to see the differnce in tactics between the boys and girls. The girls go for the guilt trip, if you dont buy I can´t go to school, this being one of the milder phrases in use. The boys however try and befriend you before trying to flog you something you really dont need or already have. Luckily their is a policeman on each corner to chase the kids away when they become too persistent.
Highlights: Being in a city where the taxi´s are seen and not heard
