So while we were here why didn´t we go to Antarctica? A couple of reasons, the first is it takes quite a while to do a proper visit, secondly we hadn´t researched the type of trip we wanted to go on thoroughly and last of all its a good way to spend a lot of money very quickly. So saving Antarctica for the next trip we felt we had to go as far south as we could and so the Puerto Williams visit.
Whilst trying to book our trip we saw an advert for a crusie back to Punta Areneas, ok its beats the bus so I was interested. Looking into it further the ship also visited Cape Horn, ok now I was sold that would be south enough for this trip ;-)
Having avoided one bus trip we decided to hop on an old London Route Master for a laugh and do the city tour, Ushuaia is a very small town, with the center being only 14 blocks wide and small blocks at that so the tour didn't take very long. Finishing the tour we spent some time in the very good maritime museum where to my surprise I learnt that Sir Francis Drake was really a pirate. A fact that according to Wikipedia may have an element of truth. There was me thinking he was a Naval war hero. After all he looked nothing like the pirates I am familiar with such as Captain Pugwash. With a bit of time to spare today I decide to work out how we had spent our time over the first 50 days of our trip.
