As the streets of Pingyao are only really suitable for bicycles and golf buggies we had to catch a lift to the edge of the highway to pick up a bus to Xian. Its quite pleasant touring the old streets by golf buggy but no quite so much fun when our driver turned onto a dual carriage way and proceeded to drive down the middle of both lanes. The coach trip was much more civilised, that is until we arrived in Xian and the driver took a detour through the one way system.
Our hotel apart from the carpets was ok and just a few minutes from the city's bell and drum towers. After almost 2 weeks of Chinese food we finally gave in and found ourselves in Pizza Hut for dinner. Its seen as a real treat here and people even dress up for the evening.
