After taking a bus round to the south of Lago Nordenskjord, we caught a boat to the Paine Grande lodge, this effectively cuts out the lower section of the "W" allowing us to focus on the valleys which form the uprights of the "W". From here we set off in the rain and after 2 hours reached camp Italiano, the rain wasn't letting up and the visibility was reducing so we decided to turn back. Yeah yeah I know lightweights. After a warm shower the weather at the bottom of the valley cleared and the cuango range was in full display along with some of Piane Grande the highest peak in the park.

Lago Skottsberg
The Piane Grande lodge like the mountain is the largest in the park and quite a bit warmer, lucky given all the wet clothes. The lodge also has quite a nice bar and the local beer Austral (website under construction) is very good, much better than anything they serve in Peru or Argentina. Austral is brewed at the southern most brewery in the world at Punta Arenas.
